Update golf from the heart

What in the Kingdom of God has been happening with Golf From the Heart?

Truly amazing things that in my opinion could only be orchestrated by God.

As you've seen, many of you, in our communities that we've been placing within Golf From the Heart (GFtH), we are attempting to coalesce the different people groups within golf in order to somehow establish a community in which each of these groups that they may be able to communicate and fellowship and be encouraged in their faith in Jesus Christ.

We have been reaching out and touching most of these areas but, specifically there has been progress within three of these communities; PGA Golf Professional Discipleship, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes - Golf and Men 22 - 50 Who Love Golf.

The intent of this particular post is to update all who are interested about the developments we've been making, but, more specifically to communicate with those who are partnering with us and prayerfully working with us in order to fulfill many of the things God has been prompting others to engage in with golf as a platform for ministry.

PGA Golf Professional Discipleship. I place this first because this is, really, one of the most dynamic things that is going on as we reach out to assist in this particular community. We haven't shared before in this forum the things that began to happen back early in the year in 2018, but, suffice it to say that the Lord did a marvelous work by allowing us to participate in a Golf Discipleship Training week in Annapolis, Maryland with many folks from, literally around the world who had been drawn together in order to participate in this wonderful week. The impetus for the get-together was based upon a vision these men had for reaching out to PGA Golf Professionals throughout the world in order to build a fellowship and discipleship training for men and women in the golf world who may not have a deep fellowship relationship with other golf pros in their Section. Many of these men had been involved in discipleship training and fellowship with others many times, yet it seemed to all of us that the Lord was drawing us to become more diligent and specific about reaching out to golf professionals within the many PGA Sections in the United States. I know that that's not exactly what was expressed and continues to be expressed by the core group of these men, but quite honestly, I took this as an initiative on my own in order to move it forward as the Lord would allow.

So, I want to publish this update you and specifically those involved in this initial meeting to communicate what has been happening within Golf From the Heart as well as the relationships that have been developing throughout the world of golf.

Take for instance during the Masters this year in Augusta Georgia when while playing golf at Gordon Lakes on Fort Gordon I took the opportunity to visit with the Golf Professional in the clubhouse. As I spoke with him, I realized he was a Believer in Jesus Christ. I was very excited, of course, and shared with him the developments that I had participated in Annapolis and that there was a network of PGA Golf Professionals that would be seeking to establish discipleship and fellowship within the sections within the US. This golf pro became very excited after expressing his dismay at not having an opportunity to fellowship and grow in the knowledge of God through other golf pros within his Section. Unfortunately, I had not been able to assist him in establishing a fellowship, developing relationships, nor anything that would assist him up until today. Why do I say today? Because yesterday I was introduced to Bill Dando from Athens Georgia. Bill was introduced to me by Jose Alvarez who is a mentor for golfers on the Web.com Tour. It turns out that Bill Dando has been called of God to use his experience as a PGA golf professional to establish a Ministry with an FCA that reaches out to, wait for it, directly with PGA Golf Professionals in the Georgia Section. After sharing on the telephone each of our experiences on the telephone Bill and I are now connected in Spirit. His experiences and initiatives and successes in this program are exactly the types of information and experience and programms that we need to share in order to be able to reach out to the other professional golfers in the sections throughout the country and, hopefully the world.

So I informed Bill of the need that the golf professional at Gordon Lakes had and asked him to please reach out to this gentleman and begin a relationship in order to fulfill what I had promised him back in April of this year. How does that happen? It is the Lord!!!
